Sourcing a location.
Depending on the project, there are a few different things you could do to source a suitable location for filming.
You could use your own office/warehouse space
You could rent an air bnb
You could rent a photography studio
You could use a family/friends home (eg. Using the kitchen space for cooking videos)
If you’ve got budget to spend hiring out a private space, I recommend either searching for photography/videography studios that best suit what you’re trying to achieve.
Generally speaking for talking head pieces you want to use an environment that is interesting and gives context to what’s being spoken about. For example an AFL coach interviewed at a sporting ground.
Things to note:
When it comes to recording audio, if you’re paying for a space we definitely want a space where we can control the audio. Co-working spaces or shared photography studios can make things difficult in this sense.
The more we can control the light, the cleaner the video is going to look. Natural light coming through windows/roof panels is going to be very inconsistent, so being able to close the blinds or turn the overhead lights off will make huge difference. Sometimes this is unavoidable but it’s worth noting.
Is the space big enough to set up 1-2 cameras, audio + lighting equipment?
If you project is a little unique, please feel free to ask me for recommendations on what we need for a location.
