What to expect.
Phase 1: Pre-Production
After your project has been confirmed and you have paid the 50% deposit we will begin the pre-production phase of your project. This includes planning all elements that need to be planned. The following steps are taken in the pre-production phase:
A google drive folder is created for you to share your brand assets or images with us, including fonts, logos and guidelines
A creative direction questionnaire is shared with you to fill out
Music selected
Create a run-sheet and rough shot list based on the information you have given us
Phase 2: Production
The Production phase is the filming aspect. Normally we will begin with the talking camera shots (the A-roll) whether that’s using a teleprompter or an interview depending on the predetermined style of video you have chosen.
I’ll set up cameras, lights and audio gear as soon as I arrive. Set-up time can take anywhere between 30-60 minutes. The second part of the shoot will be any additional B-roll footage necessary for the video according to the shot list.
What is A-roll & B-roll?
The A-roll is typically the interview or a person talking to camera or slightly off camera. The B-roll is footage of the things you’re talking about placed over the top of the footage of the person talking. It is used to add context and variety to your video. Apart from giving great context to your script, B-roll also adds variety to your video which will inevitably keep your audience more interested in watching the video.
Generally speaking people are a lot more likely to watch a video to the very end when they see variety in the footage as opposed to just watching someone talk the entire time. Think of it as giving a talk without a powerpoint presentation. The powerpoint presentation gives the audience something different to look at instead of just holding their focus on you the entire time.
What happens if my shoot goes over time?
Typically the hours of filming won’t exceed the estimated time however if we need to do additional takes then any additional hours will be charged at an hourly rate.
Phase 3: Post Production
Post production is the process between the filming day and delivering the final video. If you have pressing deadlines please make this known so we can accomodate for this.
Turnaround time varies per project, but our general guideline is 2-3 weeks. However please refer to the estimated turnaround provided in your proposal as that will be more accurate. Editing doesn’t commence until all required details have been shared, such as confirmed music selection or time stamps for interviews - essentially if we have requested something from you I need that information before I start editing.
I will then create a “directors cut” of how I think the video should look following on from the brief you have filled out. You will then be sent this video to review via our feedback platform for each project we include 2 complementary revisions per video. A revision is 30 - 60 minutes of minor changes. For example, fixing spelling errors, or changing a couple of scenes.
The remainder of the payment is due 3 weeks post shoot date, or before receiving the edited content, whichever occurs sooner.
Any additional revisions are billed at an hourly rate depending on the changes. After you have approved of the content it will be uploaded to google drive for you to download and use as you wish!
Once the project has been marked us completed we may not have access to project files so any further edits will be billed accordingly.
Raw footage is kept on file for up to 6 months, once we are nearing this time frame we will reach out to see if you would be interested in receiving raw footage for a small fee.
